About 3 weeks ago I traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to go through a weekend of interviews, training and general “getting to know you” type of activities. It was a courting weekend in a sense as it was an opportunity for SIM (the missions sending board I am wanting to move to Africa with) and me to kind of test the waters and see if we would be a good fit.

I found out that weekend that I was accepted by SIM and invited to continue this process with them, but I couldn’t make an public announcement about it until I received approval from the field office in Kenya. Well, this past Monday I got an e-mail that I now have appointee status with SIM and I will be moving forward with them as my sending board! I could not feel more comfortable with this partnership. This organization has been around for over 100 years. I have met a ton of their missionaries who have been with them for 20-30 years. I think that kind of longevity speaks volumes for how well they feel cared for.

This is a pretty surreal feeling. Every step closer makes it feel more weighty and real. I continue to be overwhelmed by how much this feels like one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given. So excited to see how the Lord will continue to direct my steps.
